REASI, Oct 13: The students of Government Higher Secondary School Tote here today staged a protest demonstration against the shortage of staff in their school under the banner of ABVP.
Raising slogans, the protesting students marched from Zanana Park to Mini Secretariat here and blocked the main road.
A large number of students including girls participated in the protest.
The protesters criticized the Government for not providing teaching staff and basic facilities to the school.
They said that most of the posts of teachers at the school are lying vacant from the past several years. The precious time of students was being wasted owing to shortage of teachers, they added.
The protesters said that most of the students were coming from remote and far-flung areas but their future was diminishing owing to shortage teachers.
The protesting students asked the Government and local administration to take notice of the issue and fill the vacant posts of teachers. They said that they would be left with no other option but to launch protest rallies if the vacant posts were not filled as early as possible.
The protesters dispersed peacefully and opened the road when DC Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib assured them to take up the issue with the concerned authorities.
