JAMMU, Jan 31: The students of Jammu University boycotted their classes in protest against the fee hike today.
Expressing their resentment against the decision the protestors demanded immediate withdrawal of the decision. The demonstration was held under the banner of National Panthers Student Union (NPSU). The protest was led by Thakur Virender Singh, President Jammu University and Provincial President NPSU.
Early in the morning NPSU activists along with the students of Jammu University assembled at outside the Urdu Department of JU and started raising slogans against the University authorities and held them responsible for fee hike. Later the protesters blocked the traffic for near about one and half hour.
Addressing the gathering Thakur Virender Singh came heavily upon authorities of University of Jammu for hiking the fees for hostels, examination and various forms etc which is totally illogical and unnecessary burden on students community. He demanded that the University of Jammu should clear their stand that on what ground and under which criteria they have hiked the fee all of a sudden.
