Students from MLA’s village protest for water, teachers

People lock Govt School in Kalakote

RAJOURI, Sept 18: The children from a Govt School at the village of sitting MLA Darhal, at Tralla in Kandi today held strong protest for water crisis and shortage of staff and blocked Budhal Road for about two hours while people locked a Govt High School in Kalakote area for shortage of teachers today.
Reports from Kotranka (Kandi) said that Rajouri-Budhal Road was blocked for about two hours by the students of Govt High School Tralla in protest against the severe drinking water crisis and shortage of staff in the local school. The students and some locals raised barricades on the road and disrupted movement of traffic for two hours. They were shouting slogans against State Education authorities, CEO and DC Rajouri besides local MLA.
They alleged that Head Master of the school was transferred from this school some time back and no new HM was posted. There is shortage of four teachers in the school. They also alleged that there is no drinking water for the students at the school despite the fact that sitting MLA and former minister Ch Zulfkar Ali hails from this village. Later, with the intervention of CEO, Tehsildar and SHO concerned the road was cleared. A large number of vehicles remained stranded on the road due to blockade.
A report from Kalakote said that students and locals of the area today locked Govt High School, Dalhan in Taryath area and staged strong protest against Education authorities. They were protesting against the shortage of teachers in the Govt School. They alleged that there are only 6 teachers including Head Master in the school. Two teachers were posted here some time back but they did not join and manage posting some where else.
They said that due to shortage of teachers studies of nearly 170 students are affected. They raised slogans against Administration and Director School Education, Jammu and CEO Rajouri. On the assurance of CEO Rajouri on phone, the students then lifted dharna.
