UDHAMPUR, Apr13: The locals and students of Government Middle School Nali Nikka today held a strong protest against non-availability of approach road to newly constructed foot bridge.
Constructed by PWD, the foot bridge over Nallah “Panthli “in Khadandra Valley of Panchari, sans approach road with the result that locals and students have to climb about 60 feet high towers with the help of ropes and ladder for using the same.
Parents of the students fear that any untoward incident may occur while climbing the bridge towers daily. Towers on both sides of the bridge are too high to climb over even by the young people, they said and added that concerned PWD authorities have already been intimated regarding risks to the lives and have been requested to construct approach roads on priority so as to avert mishaps but no action was taken so far.
District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said that work on construction of the approach road will be started on priority bases but it would take 2-3 months for completion of the same.
