Jammu, Dec 28: Maintai-ning that time is ripe to enhance intensity of the trade and business across LoC, the Minister for Industries and Commerce, S. S. Slathia today urged leadership of India and Pakistan to sink their differences, in the interest of the people of both the countries. He said that huge expenditures incurred to guard borders could be invested in programmes of development and poverty alleviation of people by the both Governments.
Addressing a public meeting at Kesso Manhasan, Vijaypur today, Mr. Slathia said that the Centre and the State Governments are keen to restore all trade links with neighbouring county, adding that state-of-art Trade Facilitation Centres (TFCs) at Salamabad, Uri and Chakkan-De-Bagh in Poonch are at final stage of constructed at a cost of about Rs. 15 crore to give boost to trade and economic ties across LoC. He hoped that Bank facilities for trade transactions are under active consideration of the External Ministries of both the countries to replace existing barter system, which is cumbersome for the traders and business men.
Mr. Slathia said that revival of trade ties between the two countries is one of the important Confidence Building Measures (CBM) which needs focused attention of both the nations. He hailed ongoing dialogue process between India and Pakistan, hoping that these will prove fruitful for the people of both countries especially J&K, which is the first beneficiary of peace and tranquillity in the region.
Responding to the demands of the people, the Minister announced construction of lanes/ drains near Peer Baba, flooring in the premises of Peer Baba, boundary wall and shed over Shamshanghat, one hand pump in Peer Baba and one hand pump in community hall.
