Stop renaming of prominent places: Chadha to LG

JAMMU, Mar 3: RK Chadha, former State treasurer of PDP and president of Citizen’s Forum has appealed LG GC Murmu not to start or promote renaming of prominent places in Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing concern over renaming of prominent places in Jammu City including City Chowk which has been renamed as Bharat Mata chowk, Chadha said it should be stopped immediately otherwise it will become difficult to stop diversionary tactics of many unwanted groups in the Union Territory.
“Bharat Mata is equated to epics and holy books of different religions in this country and one feels hurt when the holy books are desecrated. The Bharat Mata board fixed in the centre of the City Chowk is a centre of attraction for desecration by animals, traffic and common people,” he said, adding, the respect for the mother and mother-land should be in one’s heart and not depicted on the streets to be misused by the all and sundry.
