RAMBAN, Mar 5: Police here today traced and recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested two persons involved in the theft.
According to Police, on February 25, 2026, a complaint was lodged by Suresh Kumar, resident of Draman, Ramban regarding theft of his vehicle of Force Trax Cruiser make bearing registration number JK19/1289 after which an FIR with number 42/2026 was registered at Police Station Ramban under relevant sections of BNS and investigation was started.
Acting swiftly, a dedicated team of cops led by SHO Police Station Ramban under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban was constituted which apprehended the motor vehicle lifters and recovered the stolen vehicle from their possession at Vijaypur, Samba. Samba Police provided valuable assistance in the investigation.
The accused persons were identified as Sahil Ahmed Sheikh and Aqib Ahmed Sheikh, both sons of Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh and both residents of Srinagar.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had tampered with the High Security Registration Plate of the stolen vehicle and had affixed a forged number plate in an attempt to conceal identity of the vehicle and evade detection.
The stolen vehicle was recovered and taken into Police custody.
