KATRA, Feb 13: Demonstrating prompt response and professional investigation, Police cracked a motorcycle theft case within a short span of time, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and arrest of the accused involved.
Police Station Katra received a written complaint regarding the theft of a motorcycle bearing Registration No. JK11F-7196 from the Chintamani area of Katra. Acting without delay, FIR No. 06/2026 U/S 303(2) BNS was registered and a dedicated investigation team was constituted.
Immediately after registration of the case, an extensive search operation was launched. Several suspects were rounded up for questioning. Through a combination of technical surveillance, CCTV analysis and reliable human intelligence, the police zeroed in on the accused involved in the commission of the crime.
The accused, Mohd Tariq alias Bafar son of Mohd Aslam alias Pinku, resident of Bhagta, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, was apprehended. During sustained interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the theft. On his disclosure, the stolen motorcycle was recovered.
Notably, the accused has a history of involvement in theft and dacoity cases and is known for previous criminal activities. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway to explore his possible involvement in other cases.
The entire operation was carried out by SHO Katra, Insp Ranjeet Singh Rai, under the supervision of SDPo Katra, Dr Bhishm Dubey.
