JAMMU, May 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Arnia area have solved a theft case within 24 hours of its reporting by arresting the accused and recovering the stolen weapon.

As per officials, a complaint was lodged by Poonam Devi, wife of Naresh Kumar, resident of Malley-de-Kothey, at Police Station Arnia. She reported that an unknown person had stolen a 12 bore double barrel gun from her house.
Taking swift action, they said, Police Station Arnia registered an FIR No. 23/2025 under sections 331(4)/305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and assigned the investigation to SI Harjinder Pal Singh under the supervision of SHO Arnia, Inspector Dilawar Kumar.
Using human and technical intelligence, the police team identified and detained a suspect, officials said.
During sustained questioning, the accused, identified as Rahul Chandail alias Salute Maar of Allah village in Arnia, confessed to the crime, they said.
Based on his disclosure, officials said, the police successfully recovered the stolen 12 bore double barrel gun.
Meanwhile, further investigation is underway.
