JAMMU, June 18: The Residents Welfare Association (RWA) Jawahar Nagar Talab Tillo has expressed grave concern over the insanitation in the area.
The representatives of the Association led by its president V K Ambardar told Excelsior today that total unhygienic conditions prevail in the area due to callousness of the authorities of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to whom they have approached time and again for launching a cleanliness drive in the area.
They said the insanitation has caused health hazards in the area and there is every apprehension about spread of epidemic. They said the adjoining Barsati nallah is also stinking posing a big threat to inhabitants as authorities failed to get it cleaned. The prevailing insanitation can take an ugly turn in case the immediate steps were not taken to clean the nallah, lanes and drains in the area.
The residents said that they brought the matter in the notice of JMC authorities umpteen times but except assurances they failed to take any concrete step to solve the problem which is going to take a critical turn in coming Monsoon. The heaps of garbage, wild grass emitting a foul smell have become a breeding point of mosquitoes and other insects. It is not known that on one hand the Government is claiming of developing a clean and green Jammu and the city of temples has been given the status of Smart city as well but on the other hand the authorities at the helm of affairs have failed maintain sanitation in the area.
The Association also warned to come to streets in case the JMC failed to launch a cleanliness drive in the area.
