State Taxes Deptt intensifies drive against GSTR3B non-filers

UDHAMPUR, Nov 21: Intensifying drive against GST3B and return non-filers, a team of State Taxes Department today conducted day-long inspections in various areas of State Tax Circle Udhampur.
The inspections were conducted on the directions of the Commissioner, State Taxes, M Raju, by the enforcement team headed by Mohammed Shahid Saleem, Additional Commiss-ioner, State Taxes (Administr-ation & Enforcement), Jammu.
The team consisted of Rakesh Magotra, Deputy Commissioner (Enforcement), Jammu, Arvind Sawhney, Neeraj Sharma and Saba Noor, State Taxes Officers including Inspectors of the State Taxes Department.
The tax payers whose premises were inspected are M/s Devika Hundai, J&K Vehic-leades, Mahamaya Automobiles, CD Automobiles, DA Enterprises and Proach Automobiles. The tax on turnover running in crores have been held back by these erring dealers, who were directed on spot to clear their tax liability within seven days failing which action under Section 67 of the GST Act shall be instituted against them.
Meanwhile the Additional Commissioner, State Taxes, (Administration & Enforc-ement), Jammu, ordered proceedings under section 67 of the J&K Goods and Services Tax Act against M/s Bhagvati Marbels, Udhampur and Punjabi Haveli on Jammu-Udhampur road.
All the records of Punjabi Haveli were seized by the inspecting team on the basis of noticing prima-facie concealing of sales by the business unit. The Haveli has not filed the GSTR3B returns for the last eleven months which made the transaction of the business establishment more suspicious and accordingly proceeding under section 67 of the J&K SGST Act were initiated against it.
The State Tax Officer Udhampur has been ordered to conduct proceedings under section 67 of the J&K SGST Act against M/s Bhagvati Marbels, Udhampur. The unit has willfully defaulted in filing of GSTR3B returns since April 2018.
