DODA, June 9: A social and political activist from Thathri area of Doda, Kuldeep Kumar Rao has appealed the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah; Transport Minister, Satish Sharma; MLA Bhaderwah, Daleep Singh Parihar and MLA, Doda-52, Mehraj Malik to provide two RTC buses from Jammu to Joura-Halaran and Joura-Halaran to Jammu daily and also sanction two RTC buses from Jammu to Chiralla tehsil headquarters and from Chiralla to Jammu on daily basis.
In a press statement here today, Rao said the regular RTC bus service was started from Halaran to Doda in 2016, but due to the negligence of the conductor and the driver of the bus, it could not continue. This had mitigated many of the difficulties of the people of this area including four Panchayats namely— Joura Kalan, Joura Khurd, Halaran and Houja-Jia.
Moreover, the stretches of the roads from Bhatola to Halaran- Joura Khurd, Halaran Morh to Sichal-Goila, Sultan Morh to Surunga–Joura Kalan, Puneja to Chiralla, Thathri to Jangalwar- Chirrala and Punaja to Bhallara should immediately be widened and black topped.
Rao said that the crores of rupees have been spent on these roads but buses are not plying on these roads. Only Tata-Sumos and some private mini buses run on these roads, charging heavy fare. The poor people of these areas are being made to suffer due to heavy financial loss, he regretted.
