The procession commenced at Candle Church Chowk in Christian Colony. Guided by prayer and reflection, the faithful marched through Residency Road and Vivekananda Chowk before concluding at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
The event featured a poignant reenactment of the Stations of the Cross, where followers depicted the suffering and death of Jesus. Participants carried crosses and moved in silence, creating an atmosphere described by many onlookers as the most “peaceful and heartbreaking” witness of faith they had ever experienced.
During his homily, Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Brabin Jany spoke about the enduring significance of the Cross.
“The Cross is the sign of God’s greatest love, offered to save a mankind lost in sin, hatred, and war,” said Fr. Jany.
“It gives meaning to our modern trials and stands as a symbol of victory over death. Jesus’ sacrifice challenges us to leave sin behind,” he added.
He further inspired the congregation by quoting Galatians 2:19-20: “I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me.”
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Parish Priest Fr. Arul Nirmal, who expressed gratitude to the Jammu Police Department for ensuring security and smooth conduct of the procession, the Municipal Corporation for civic support, and members of the media for their coverage.
The solemn observance of Good Friday precedes Easter Sunday, which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the triumph of life over death, reinforcing hope and renewal among the faithful.
