SRINAGAR, Dec 31: Senior Superintendent of Police, Security, Maqsood-ul-Zaman was today attached with the Security Headquarters after militants decamped with four assault rifles from official residence of former Legislator at Jawahar Nagar yesterday.
Police today issued an order of attachment of Maqsood-ul-Zaman, SSP security Kashmir, with Security Headquarters with immediate effect.
An order no G2/G-3/SP/Trans dated 31/12/2018 read that “Maqsood- ul-Zaman, SSP security Kashmir is hereby attached with Security Headquarters with immediate effect.”
The order further said that Sajad Hussain, SSP Commandant, JKAP 3rd Battalion has been given additional charge of SSP security.
“Sajad Hussain, SSP Commandant JKAP 3rd battalion, in addition to his own duties shall look after the work of SSP security Kashmir till further orders,” read an order issued by Police Headquarters Jammu and Kashmir.
And in the meantime, a police officer said that three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants are involved in weapon snatching.
Sources said that a cop posted in the Armed wing of the police, visited the residence of the former Legislator and after seeing one PSO there, he left. Immediately after that two militants posing electricians entered the residence to fix the electric meter. As they entered the residence, one more person armed with the pistol arrived and asked the PSO to hand over the rifles.
The PSO was not carrying the arms and had kept all of them in a steel trunk. The militants broke the lock and took out the four AK-47 rifles.
Sources said that one of the militants has been identified as Ishfaq, hailing from Beerwah and others are also from Budgam district.
The cop, who visited Legislator’s residence before militants walked in, has also gone underground.
