DODA, Sept 3: In the wake of continuous rainfall and increasing risk of landslides and flash floods in various parts of the district, SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta here today chaired a virtual meeting with all Police officers of the district to review preparedness and response mechanism during incessant rains and inclement weather.
The SSP took a comprehensive review of field-level readiness especially in vulnerable zones prone to sliding, road blockages and flash floods and issued directions to GOs, SHOs and IC Police Posts to remain on high alert and extend immediate assistance to any affected individual or locality.
“Safety of citizens is our topmost priority. All the officers must remain in close coordination with civil administration and be present on ground to provide help, especially in critical and remote areas,” the SSP said.
He directed immediate deployment of rescue teams in areas affected by landslides and water-logging.
The district Police head stressed for round-the-clock patrolling and monitoring of roads vulnerable to landslides.
“Prompt evacuation of residents from flood-prone and vulnerable houses/slopes, quick restoration of traffic movement with the help of concerned departments should be done,” he maintained and asked the Police officers to ensure regular updates to Police Control Room about ground situation.
“Establish temporary assistance centres and help desks for public. Maintain constant communication with District Administration, SDRF and other agencies. Deploy public address systems in sensitive areas to disseminate information and advisories,” the SSP told officers and also voiced for ensuring timely medical assistance, shelter and basic supplies to the affected people.
Police officers have also been asked to document and report any incidents of property damage, injuries or displacement immediately to facilitate coordinated relief and compensation efforts.
