KUPWARA, Sept 11: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara, Ghulam Jeelani, today reviewed the status of inquest proceedings in the district while chairing the crime review meeting (CRM) at the District Police Headquarters.
The session was attended by Additional SP Kupwara Syed Javaid, Senior Prosecuting Officer Masroor, SHOs, Investigating Officers and other officials.
Detailed discussions were held on pending and under-investigation cases, and the SSP issued directions for their speedy and transparent disposal.
Officers were asked to strictly follow legal procedures and timelines while maintaining high standards of investigation.
Special emphasis was placed on coordination with health, forensic and revenue departments for timely reports and expert opinions, which are crucial for fair conclusions.
ASP Syed Javaid briefed participants on sensitive cases, urging diligence, timely reporting and a humane approach while dealing with families involved.
Senior Prosecuting Officer Masroor shared legal guidance on procedural aspects, stressing the importance of evidence preservation and accuracy in final reports.
He underlined the need for investigators to be well-versed in legal provisions to avoid lapses during prosecution.
Commending the officers’ efforts, SSP Jeelani reiterated the importance of professional integrity, accountability and public trust.
He also highlighted the role of community policing and close engagement with local stakeholders for early detection and resolution of cases.
