JAMMU, Jan 7: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, today chaired a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at the District Police Lines Jammu.
The meeting was attended by zonal SPs, SP Operations Jammu, all SDPOs, DySP DAR, DySP Headquarters, senior police officers of DPO Jammu, Incharge FSL DPL Jammu, all SHOs and Incharge Police Posts of Jammu district.
The SSP extended New Year greetings to the officers and appreciated their efforts in maintaining peace and normalcy, implementing new criminal laws, handling Operation Sindoor and managing duties during flash floods.
He reviewed the overall crime situation, law and order scenario and policing initiatives taken during the year 2025.
It was informed that 4,134 FIRs were registered in the district during the year, the lowest in the last five years, while 5,122 cases were disposed of, marking the highest disposal in the same period.
The SSP said the reduction in cases was due to effective preventive action, proactive policing and strict action against crime, and not because of under-reporting.
During the meeting, various aspects of policing including quality and time-bound investigation, disposal of old and new cases, NDPS cases, verifications, inquest proceedings, monitoring of history-sheeters, absconders and missing persons were discussed.
Emphasis was laid on mandatory use of FSL services, effective implementation of citizen-centric provisions such as Zero FIR and e-FIR, use of e-Sakshya, SID creation, MedLEaPR and CCTNS.
The SSP reiterated zero tolerance towards drugs, organised crime, corruption and indiscipline, and directed officers to maintain strict surveillance on criminal elements, ensure traffic regulation at peak hours and strengthen security arrangements ahead of Republic Day 2026.
After the meeting, the police hosted a mega feast, “Bada Khana”, at DPL Jammu to promote team spirit and strengthen bonding among officers and officials.
