JAMMU, June 5: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, today chaired a detailed crime and security review meeting at District Police Lines, here.
The meeting was attended by Zonal SSPs, SDPOs, SHOs, and In-charges of Police Posts from across the district.
During the meeting, SSP Jammu reviewed the overall law and order situation, crime trends, and progress on investigations.
Special focus was laid on quality disposal of cases registered under both old and new criminal laws, with officers being directed to adhere to the time limits of 60 and 90 days for case closure.
In-depth discussions were held on the handling of NDPS and UAPA cases.
The SSP called for timely and professional investigations to ensure that drug peddlers do not get bail easily.
He also directed officers to identify backward and forward linkages in drug networks and to take action for preventive detention of habitual offenders.
The meeting also reviewed the progress on digital policing tools like the CCTNS, e-Sakshya, SIDs, and e-Summons.
The SSP Jammu stressed mandatory use of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) services and MedLEaPR to improve the quality of evidence and strengthen cases in court.
Officers were also instructed to intensify efforts to identify and take strong legal action against hardcore criminals, drug peddlers, absconders, and history-sheeters.
The SSP reiterated a clear policy of zero tolerance against drugs, corruption, and any form of indiscipline.
He emphasized that strict measures must be taken to prevent the burking of crime and ensure accountability at all levels.
Highlighting the importance of citizen-centric policing, SSP Jammu advised officers to remain responsive, behave politely, and be sympathetic while addressing public grievances.
He noted that the efficiency of police is judged not only by swift action but also by humane conduct.
Meanwhile, in view of the forthcoming VVIP visit, the SSP directed all officers to maintain high alertness, conduct surveillance on anti-social and anti-national elements, and ensure foolproof security arrangements across the district.
