RAMBAN, Nov 5: Police here today organised an interactive session with Village Defence Group (VDG) members at Police Station Ramsoo.
The session was held under the chairmanship of Arun Gupta, SSP Ramban and was attended by SDPO Banihal, SHO Ramsoo, ICPP Ukhral, Coy Commanders of 12 RR and 23 RR and the Coy Commander of 166 Bn CRPF.
Around 800 VDG members from the jurisdiction of the Police Station participated in the event.
During interaction, SSP Ramban briefed the participants on emerging security challenges and highlighted the crucial role of VDGs as a force multiplier in maintaining peace and stability.
Members were sensitized about adversarial tactics, including the misuse of social media and were advised on preventive strategies through training, coordination, and community vigilance.
The session also discussed measures for crime prevention, patrolling and strengthening communal harmony in the region.
Officers urged VDG members to remain vigilant and actively cooperate with Police and security forces in maintaining brotherhood, peace and tranquillity.
The participants also received instructions on the periodic cleaning, safe handling and maintenance of government issued arms and ammunition.
The event concluded with officers listening to the grievances of VDG members and assuring prompt redressal.
