SRTC Workers’ Union takes up daily rated drivers issue with Secy

SRINAGAR, June 15: The J&K SRTC Workers Union took up the issue of daily rated/ consolidated drivers’ issue with the Commissioner/ Secretary Transport Department  and the Managing Director of the Corporation today.
Led by chairman of the J&K SRTC Workers Union  Wajahat Hussain, general secretary Paramjeet Singh and other members, the Union members during meeting with the Secretary Transport  R K Bhagat  and the MD  GA Sofi took up the issue of consolidated workers including drivers who have gone on strike.  They stressed upon the authorities to  regularize the consolidated drivers and other workers who have completed eight years in service.
The Commissioner/ Secretary Transport informed that  due to ensuring Assembly session, it is not possible  to convene meeting in this regard. He said when the session is over a decision in this regard would be taken. He said that a meeting of the Board of Directors on July 4, 2016 has already been fixed  and regularisation of  consolidated drivers is one of the agendas in that meeting.
Meanwhile,  chairman of the  Union  Wajahat Hussain and general secretary Paramjeet Singh  said that for the last two days some consolidated SRTC workers/ drivers  in Jammu have gone on strike  and they are being requested to report back to the duty as per assurance given by the Commissioner/  Secretary  Transport Department and the Managing Director. They said in case any action is taken by the Management against the striking consolidated workers, they shall be personally responsible for it.
A senior officers of the SRTC said that a meeting of the Establishment- cum- Finance Committee regarding  regularization of  consolidated drivers/ employees has been scheduled to be held on July 7 at JKSRTC headquarters  MA Road Srinagar at 11 AM.  The cases pertaining to consolidated drivers will be examined  in the meeting. Some consolidated employees  misguided by some elements have proceeded on strike. In case they continue to do so and ignore the appeal of the Commissioner/ Secretary and the MD SRTC, their cases  will be considered for immediate disengagement.
