Srinagar, Feb 18: People have been advised to store sufficient water to meet their needs as the drinking water supply will remain ‘severely affected’ in various Srinagar areas for 30 hours on February 22 and 23.
According to details released by the Executive Engineer, Water Works Division Srinagar, the Department of Civil Investigation & Design Wing, JKPDC, Kashmir, will undertake a 30-hour shutdown on February 22 and 23 to carry out repairs on the Sindh Power Canal HEP in Old Ganderbal and desilting of the Forebay.
“As a result, the raw water supply to the Water Treatment Plants at Alusteng and Rangil will be severely affected, and potable water supply will remain disrupted in major parts of Srinagar city and adjacent areas,” it stated.
The affected areas include Zakoora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Shuhama, Hadoora, Chatterhama, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Busserbagh, Malla Bagh, Pandach, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Bohlouhpora, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Bagh-i-Ali Mardan Khan, Zadibal, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nawakadal, Bohori Kadal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Sadribal, parts of Rainawari, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, Karan Nagar, Chattabal, Kawdara, Eidgah, Mahrajgunj, Zaina Kadal, Saidpora, Bemina, Firdousabad, parts of Batamaloo, Qamarwari, Zaina Koot, Noorabad, Umerabad, and adjacent areas.
The Executive Engineer has urged the general public to store sufficient water to meet their needs during the disruption.
“For any complaints or grievances regarding water scarcity or shortages, the public is requested to contact the PHE Provincial Control Room, which remains functional around the clock,” the statement added.
