JAMMU, June 28: Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu will soon have Sri Yantra temple. Work on this unique temple, first of its kind in Jammu, is apace. The Yantra made of nine metals including gold has been got prepared from Jaipur and will be installed with all rituals amidst recitation of mantras on an auspicious day shortly. The temple will have idols of ‘Navgrahs’ (nine planets).
Progress of this ambitious project taken up last year along with other improvement works was reviewed at a meeting of the Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple Management Trust held here last evening. President of the Trust G S Charak chaired the meeting.
Instructions have been issued to expedite the work on the temple and complete it by August this year. Over Rs. ten lakh have been spend on it last year and a provision of Rs. 10 lakh has been made for its completion in current year’s budget. One of the priests was deputed to Haridwar for special training in worshipping Sri Yantra. On completion, Sri Yantra temple would be a valuable and prestigious addition in Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir complex.
The Trust also decided to renovate the temple complex including its peripheral grill, replacement of broken and defaced marbles of pillars and the central plaza, painting of all temples.
The meeting also finalized arrangements for celebration of Krishan Janamashtmi falling this year on September 5. It urged all members of the Trust and the residents of Gandhi Nagar to participate in Shobha Yatra being taken out every year on the eve of Janamashtmi, in large number. Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir would organize its Shobha Yatra on the morning of September 5. Efforts will be made to get some renowned bhajan singers from outside the State for the occasion besides putting up LCDs at different points to display the sanctum sanctorum for those waiting for darshan and to create necessary religious environment.
It also decided to explore possibilities of establishing a dispensary at the Complex for free medical facilities for the people. A 3- member sub- committee was set up for the purpose.
