JAMMU, Dec 20: The SR College of Competitions (SRCC), a pioneer academy in the field of Civil Services, today conducted a series of workshops on General Studies and Optional for the aspirants preparing for the forthcoming Civil Services examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the JKPSC.
The resource persons were invited from across the country and they dealt with the issues ranging from the very nature of the examination, structure, stages and the strategy to prepare for the Preliminary Test, Mains examination and finally for the interview.
Gautam Pandey, an expert in subjects like Ethics, Aptitude and Integrity, International Relations, Internal Security, Governance and Social Justice elaborated a detailed strategy to prepare General Studies, CSAT, Essay paper and the Optional. He also, in a separate session, guided the students desiring to take Public Administration Optional.
Gautam Meena, teaching Philosophy, Economy and Current Affairs, addressed the students especially on components of general studies to be taken up first, focus areas common to Prelims and Mains, time management and the importance of test series.
He also cautioned the students about negative marking in the prelims and the number of questions to be attempted. Workshops were also conducted for the Urdu, Geography and Zoology Optional by the respective experts.
The college has also started a test series for Prelims 2021 containing 12 sectional and eight full mock tests each of GS and CSAT.
“Very often the college has been conducting such workshops for the benefit of students preparing for these prestigious exams and the response has been overwhelming. The exercise continues for the whole day as the aspirants and their guardians interact with experts after the formal workshops” informed Shikha Sharma, Office Coordinator.
