SRINAGAR, May 29: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was critically injured in a militant attack at Puchal area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district this evening.
Militants fired upon SPO, Aqib Wagay son of Abdul Ahad Wagay at Puchal village this evening.
Wagay, a resident of Panzagam Awantipora, suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to the nearby district hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar. He is working as an SPO in Railway police Awantipora.
Army, Special Operation Group of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the militants.
Militants this evening hurled a grenade inside the Police Station Kakapora. The grenade exploded in the compound without causing damage.
Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant organisation said that its cadre carried out a grenade attack on Police Station Kakapora.
Security forces immediately reached to the spot and area was cordoned off but militant had fled away.
