SPO among two nabbed with heroin

JAMMU, Jan 17: Police has apprehended two individuals, including a Special Police Officer (SPO) posted at District Police Lines (DPL) Poonch, for alleged drug peddling during a late-night operation near Balol Bridge, Ring Road, Miran Sahib.
The operation, led by a team from Police Station Miran Sahib under the supervision of the SDPO R S Pura and overall guidance of SP Headquarters, resulted in the recovery of 12 grams of a heroin-like substance, commonly referred to as “chitta.” The suspects, travelling in a vehicle from Samba towards Akhnoor, attempted to flee upon noticing the police presence but were quickly apprehended.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Irfan Hussain, an SPO posted at DPL Poonch and a resident of Galuta, tehsil Mendhar, and Sajjad Hussain Shah, a resident of Potha Surankote, district Poonch.
A thorough search of their vehicle led to the recovery of the contraband, following which an FIR Number 11/2025 was registered under sections 8/21/22/29/60 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Miran Sahib.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
