JAMMU, Apr 24: At this difficult time, the Corona warriors are getting active and unprecedented support from some individuals, who are not only contributing in the ongoing fight against COVID-19 but also setting example for others.
In two such inspiring examples, a specially abled young girl in Mantalai village of Udhampur district is stitching masks and distributing the same among needy villagers while an octogenarian in Panthal block of Reasi district is grinding grains for his villagers at free of cost during the pandemic time.
Differently abled 29-years old Madhubala has been sewing masks with her feet and distributing the same among villagers after she came to know that wearing of masks can help in preventing spread of Corona virus.
“I have distributed more than 100 masks till now and will continue to stitch more for the needy people who can’t afford the same because of their economic condition,” she said while making an appeal to everyone to stay at home and wear masks when stepping outdoors.
According to Madhubala, she learnt stitching at Divyang Sewa Ashram by Sewa Bharti in Udhampur notwithstanding her physical disability and this art was now helping her to contribute for the society at this difficult time.
Father of Madhubala is a small farmer but has been helping his daughter for the cause by providing her required cloth to stitch the masks.
By this contribution to the society during this difficult time, Madhubala has invited attention of Union Minister of State, Dr Jitendra Singh, who has lauded her selfless work by tweeting this news on his Twitter handle.
In almost similar gesture of serving people during the COVID-19 pandemic, 81-years old Shanker Singh of Kun-Kanyalan Panchayat in block Panthal of Reasi district has been grinding grains for his villagers without charging anything from them.
For the last more than 40 years, he has been grinding grains in his water mill, which is only source of income for the entire family, including his two married sons and other members.
However, despite having not very good financial condition, Shanker Singh has been contributing in the fight against COVID-19 by grinding grains of his villagers free of cost during the period of pandemic and thus inspiring many others.
“Since people are not having any sources of income at this time of lockdown, I have decided not to charge anything for grinding grains of my villagers and others during this pandemic,” said Shanker Singh with a sense of satisfaction on his wrinkled face.
Recently, PM Modi had lauded 74-years old Yog Raj Mengi from Reasi, who has been distributing masks made by him from his monthly pension and Jammu’s twin sisters, Saibaa and Saisha, who are spreading awareness on defeating Corona virus.
