Special Passport Mela for applicants from Poonch, Rajouri on March 14

JAMMU, Mar 3: Regional Passport Office Jammu has decided to organise a Special Passport Mela in Passport Seva Kendra at Jammu for all applicants from remotely located border Districts Poonch and Rajouri, especially for Haj /Umrah pilgrimage and youths seeking employment abroad for day on March 14 (Saturday).
As many as 280 applications on that day would be processed during the special Mela. This was intimated by N K Shill, Regional Passport Office, Jammu, who said that appointments for the said Mega Mela have already been opened and applicants who wish to avail this unique opportunity may book their slots. They may submit the Passport Application Forms online for ‘Fresh/Re-issue of passport under normal category and book prior appointment before visiting Passport Seva Kendra Jammu, he added.
Applicants may log on to the passport India website www.passportindia.gov.in or mpassport seva app to fill and submit the application form online, make payment of passport fee online through debit/Credit card or internet banking of State Bank of India (as mentioned on the website).
The Mela is to be held between 9:00 am to 5.00 pm on 14/03/2020 at Passport Seva Kendra, Jammu, to scrutinize, verify essentials documents and process applications of local applicants only under the ‘normal’ or’re-issue’ category”. Appointments for the Passport Mela would be allotted by the system on first come first serve basis as per availability. Applicants with appointments of that day will only be allowed entry.
Applicants who have booked appointments for the day are required to visit the Passport office in person for application processing, biometrics (finger prints etc), capturing of photographs on the designated time and day of appointment. “The applicants along with ARN (Appointment Reference No.) and original documents (photocopies thereof) must visit the Passport Seva Kendra at Jammu for having their Passport applications processed,” the Passport officer said and added that for more details, passport India website may be accessed or calls can be made to the toll free number 1800-258-1800.
N K Shill said that the objective of organizing such Mega Mela is to give special thrust on facilitating the applicants coming under category of Hajj/Umrah, senior citizen, minor, disabled, illiterate, young students/Job seekers and family persons who are intending to have their case processed at a single time and a special counter/help desk would also be opened to assist such applicant.
