Special Lok Adalat settles 24153 cases

JAMMU, Aug 23: In compliance to the directions of Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, Special Lok Adalat on traffic challans and other civil cases was held here today under the chairmanship of Y P Bourney, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr District & Sessions Judge) Jammu, in the court complex Jammu wherein 28 benches were constituted in the District.
A total number of 43302 cases pertaining to different nature were taken up, out of which 24153 cases were settled. The total amount recovered was Rs 85, 80,470.91/-.
Today’s Special Lok Adalat, focusing specifically on the amicable settlement of traffic challans and other civil cases, was in line with the broader aim of reducing pendency and promoting accessible justice for all.
The Special Lok Adalat stands as a testimony to the commitment of the Legal Services Authorities to ensure that justice is not only delivered, but delivered efficiently, empathetically, and economically. It also reinforces the importance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in strengthening the justice delivery system.
