Special enforcement drive conducted in Jammu under MVA

Jammu, Apr 26: As directed by Transport Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan and under the guidance of RTO Jammu Jasmeet Singh, a special enforcement drive was conducted across Jammu City, from South to North, to check overcharging, overloading and e-rickshaw driving licenses, along with verification of all required documents.
During the drive, approximately 750 vehicles were inspected. Out of these, 87 vehicles were e-challaned and 56 vehicles were seized for various violations under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act (MV Act) and the rules framed thereunder. A total fine amounting to Rs 3,46,200 was imposed on the violators.
In addition to enforcement, awareness sessions were conducted at multiple locations for drivers and passengers to educate them about the MV Act and road safety regulations. Special instructions were also issued to e-rickshaw operators regarding their designated areas of operation.
To ensure wider dissemination, information about the drive and its objectives was shared with the general public through various media channels.
The enforcement team was led by ARTO FS Bipen Singh Charak and ARTO Mohd Salim Manhas, and included MVI C. S. Billowria, SMVI Amanish Sharma, and MVTA Taranjot Singh.
