SRINAGAR, June 20:
The State Legislative Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta today directed the Government to look into the matter of kidnapping of Poonch girl in Punjab.
As soon as the Lower House resumed its work for the day today, Independent MLA Er Abdul Rashid was on his feet, demanding the Government to intervene into the kidnapping case.
“A girl from Poonch in Jammu region is pursuing her education in Desh Bhagat University in Punjab. But she has been kidnapped and enough is not being done to secure her freedom. I request you (Speaker) to direct the Government to speak to the concerned people and put pressure on them to recover the girl,” he said.
The Speaker then directed the Government to look into the matter. “One of our daughters from Poonch has been kidnapped, the Government should immediately look into this matter,” he said. (UNI)
