Speaker reviews progress under R-APDRP

JAMMU, June 26: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today said that an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in implementation of development works in the State.
This was stated by the Speaker after chairing a review meeting under Centrally-sponsored Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme (RAPDRP) which aims to strengthen the power distribution system in the State.
Among others MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma, MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma, Engineers and officers of PDD, M/s IRCON International Limited, contractor and representatives of M/s Louis Berger Group were  present in the meeting.
The meeting was informed that 30 Nos. of 250 KVA Distribution Transformer will be installed within time frame as well as 3 Nos of 10 MVA Power Transformer will also be installed by ending of July, 2015. and 27 Nos of 33/11 KV Receiving Substations and 28 Nos. of 11 KV feeders is in progress.
Kavinder Gupta stressed upon the executive agencies to ensure quality material and timely completion of development works adding that Government has resolved to provide concrete assets for the people across the State.  He emphasized to expedite the progress to mitigate the summer load.
The Speaker also asked the Power Development Department to maintain smooth supply of power in the city so that people may not suffer in the prevailing hot conditions. He called for close check on the power pilferage, which lead to damage to the distribution transformers. He also asked them to ensure replacement of damaged transformers within shortest possible time.
