JAMMU, Sept 23: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today laid foundation stone for multiple development works in Gandhi Nagar constituency.
The works included construction of 1.5 km long road from Bermini to Rati Sarari funded under NABARD to be constructed by PWD(R&B) at an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crore.
The Speaker also kick started Rs 4.5 crore upgradation work of Gurudwara- Preet Nagar road in Nanak Nagar, Nai Basti market road and Digiana-Rani Talab road. The augmentation of roads will meet the long pending demand of the locals.
Stressing on strict adherence of timelines, the Speaker directed the concerned officials for proper utilization of resources in a time-bound manner to ensure holistic and sustainable development of the area.
Highlighting the development initiatives taken by him, the Speaker said that to redress the water supply issues, two new water supply projects costing Rs 18 crore each included in the development plan of the constituency. He said that delivering good governance with pragmatic approach at the doorsteps of the people is his priority.
On being apprised of the problems pertaining to road connectivity, water supply, electricity, transportation, education and other basic amenities and developmental needs by locals of Bermini area, the Speaker assured them that all their genuine concerns will be looked into on priority and directed the concerned officials to take adequate measures to mitigate the problems of the locals in a time bound manner.
The Speaker assured the locals that works related to construction of Bhatindi – Barmini road, bus stand, playground along with the upgradation of schools in the area will be included in development plan.
Reiterating his commitment, the Speaker said that he is making all out efforts to fulfill the demands of the people with special focus on providing all basic amenities to the residents of his constituency with the agenda of equitable development. Collaborative efforts need to be made, especially in the rural and backward belt for improving and uplifting their social and economic status, he added.
