Jammu, Dec 20: In an effort to strengthen police-public cooperation and enhance community awareness, Jammu Police, South Zone today organized a police-public meeting at Bhour Camp, Ward No. 1, under the leadership of SP South, Ajay Sharma accompanied by SDPO South, SHO Police Station Satwari, and Incharge Police Post Gadigarh.
During the interaction, the officer addressed local residents on a range of important issues concerning public safety, crime prevention, and civic responsibility. The participants were sensitised about the importance of tenant verification and were informed about the launch of a dedicated web portal by Jammu Police to facilitate online tenant verification, aimed at ensuring transparency and strengthening security.
The gathering was also made aware of the increasing instances of online and cyber frauds, particularly through emails and phone calls. Citizens were strongly advised not to share OTPs, bank details, or personal information with unknown callers and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police.
Keeping in view the prevailing security scenario, the public was urged to remain vigilant and maintain a sharp lookout in their surroundings. The importance of police-public partnership was emphasised, highlighting that public cooperation plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and thwarting anti-national and criminal activities.
A detailed discussion was held on the collective role of parents, society, public, and police in guiding youth, preventing crime, and creating a secure social environment. Citizens were encouraged to install CCTV cameras at strategic locations to enhance surveillance and assist police investigations. They were also advised not to disturb the scene of crime and to inform the police immediately in case of any untoward incident.
The meeting concluded with an assurance from the SP South that the police remain committed to public safety and welcome active cooperation from citizens to build a safer and crime-free society.
