Soz points out shortcomings in President’s address

SRINAGAR, June 9: Former Union Minister and president Pradesh Congress Committee Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has pointed out some shortcomings in  President’s address to the joint session of the Union Parliament today.
In a statement here Prof Soz said, “The President’s address appeared to be document of the disjointed assertions. It seems the Union cabinet did not apply its mind seriously on the address. There are glaring shortcomings in the address. The address mentions Government’s desire for promoting growth but the Government is not prepared for making any commitment. Similarly, there is no definite commitment on rejuvenation of the infrastructure.”
Prof Soz said, “The address unfortunately does not even mention the new Govt’s intentions about inclusive growth. The address neither indicates  road map for growth nor for rejuvenation of infrastructure. What is then the model for development about which the party in power talked hoarse during the  election campaign. It has become clear that new Government has not desired to do justice to the weaker sections of society, especially the minorities. The address talks about modernization of Madrassas that is the on going process. The real problem of the Muslims has not been addressed.  The Government must tell what is its model  for making Muslims partners in political and economic development. The J&K has been left high and dry. The new Government has not even mentioned the need for infrastructure development of the State. It is for the first time that J&K has been neglected. It is also not clear what the new Government wants to exactly do for the Kashmiri Pandits. It has even failed to offer lip service to the refugees.”
