JAMMU, Dec 18:  Former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz  has opposed para-forces installations near the habitations in Kashmir.
In a press statement issued here today Soz said,   “ One obnoxious trait that seems to have become rampant in Kashmir happens to be greed that has made the entire system corrupt.   Unfortunately, there are people who are shortsighted and do not recognize a situation that would be wholly in their own interest.  I have been fighting a battle for years with the successive Govts in the State that para-military forces should settle in the areas that are away from the habitations to avoid  any social conflict.”
“ I have already  written to successive Chief Ministers that certain greedy land owners in their romance of possessing money  happen to be eager to offer their land to ‘para- forces’ in the thickly populated localities. I succeeded previously in thwarting such attempts in acquisition of land by the para-forces in the belt from Budgam towards Srinagar and from Budgam to Beewah and Khan Saheb,” he added.
Soz said acquisition of 1600 kanals of land in Humhama area falls in this very category, where some people want money without caring for their own future. He urged the State Govt to alert the Revenue authorities and resist the attempts.
