SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Pradesh Congress Committee president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz inaugurated a Sucker to be used by Municipal Committee Shopian for cleaning the town today.
Prof Soz provided Rs 20 lakh out of his MP LAD for this Sucker. The function in this connection was organized by MC authorities. The PCC chief also sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for the construction of dump to tackle wastage of the town out of his MP LAD.
While addressing gathering Prof Soz assured the MC authorities, local administration and people of the area that he would invest his personal time to contribute on a special plan for development of Shopian town particularly, its sanitation. He claimed that special development plan will be over and above the district development plan and he will approach the State and Central Government for funds for the project.
Addressing another public meeting at Monghal in Anantnag, the PCC chief explained that how he envisages the future of Panchayati Raj system in which functionaries in the Panchayati Raj system at all levels would be empowered by incorporating more provisions in State’s Panchayat Act to make it more responsive. He said both NC and Congress would reach a consensus over the issue shortly.
Senior party leaders Bashir Ahmed Magrey, Mohd Anwar Bhat, Peer Nazir Ahmed, Master Mohd Maqbool and Ghulam Hassan Khan also spoke on the occasion.
