JAMMU, Apr 19: Former Union Minister Prof Saifuddin Soz has sought return of all Kashmiri labourers stranded in Kangra and other parts of Himachal Pradesh.
“I am received frantic calls from stranded Kashmiri labourers in Kangra and other areas of Himachal Pradesh for help to return to their homes in Kupwara and other districts of Kashmir,” Soz said, adding, the labour leaders – Mohammad Shafi and Fayaz Ahmad Mir explained their ordeal.
Quoting labour leaders, the former Union Minister said that an odd number of 300 labourers or more could walk upto Pathankot where from they should be taken to their home districts of Kupwara and else where. Many more labourers are stranded in other parts of the Himachal Pradesh, he added.
Seeking special transportation arrangement for the return of all the stranded labourers, Soz said it is unfortunate that J&K administration doesn’t seem to be serious enough in ensuring safe return of its people stranded across various cities in the country.
Soz urged the J&K Government to straightaway take up the matter with Himachal Government and facilitate safe return of the labourers to their homes in Kashmir.
