UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: Jal Shakti/PHE Employees and Worker Association has demanded release of their pending wages and regularization of all the daily wagers.
A meeting of the Association was held at PHE Complex Udhampur under the chairmanship of Som Nath, District president and senior Trade leader of Jammu Province. While addressing the meeting, Som Nath said that the Govt has not cleared its policy. It has not released the pending wages, and implemented Minimum Wages Act. The officials from the Executive Engineer to the Commissioner Secretary level, are silent and their attitude is not serious towards the daily wagers. Som Nath appealed to the government to fulfill the genuine long pending demands of the workers.
The Trade Union leader strongly demanded that CP, ITI, land case workers who have completed seven years of service should be regularized immediately. He also demanded release of pending wages of the workers since last 65-70 months (During 2014-2020).
Som Nath further said that minimum wages to the workers in J&K be given accordingly as per Delhi Govt rate. The UT Government in Ladakh has enhanced the rate of daily wagers but the Lieutenant Governor of JKUT has not done the same till date.
He pointed out that there is acute shortage of staff. Thousands of workers are required in the department. Workers should be engaged as per norms so that work may run smoothly. At least 3700 workers are required in a division only and this figure is increasing day by day. The new water supply schemes are running in crores, but the provision of the workers has not been kept. The private workers are running the water supply schemes. The JJM schemes will not run without workers. Month by month due to retirements, many water supply schemes are going to turn non- functional. He also demanded conduct of DPC and time bound promotions in the Department.
Senior members- Vijay Sharma, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Makhan Chand, Parveen, Shambu Dutt and others were also present.
