SRINAGAR, Jan 29: The hills of Kashmir experienced light snowfall with Meteorological Department in Srinagar forecasting a week of wet weather from tomorrow across the region.

A light snowfall was recorded in Pir Panjal areas, Zojila, Razdan Pass, Sinthan Top, Sadhna Top and other areas today.
The fresh snowfall was recorded under the influence of feeble Western Disturbance, which started affecting the region this afternoon.
The gusty winds were reported from Srinagar as well as the other areas of the Valley since this afternoon.
The Meteorological Department in Srinagar has forecast a week of wet weather from today across the region.
The 40-day-long harshest period of winter, known as “Chillai Kalan,” in Kashmir ended today. This phase largely remained dry, except for two brief spells of snowfall.
The MeT office said the weather will generally remain cloudy with the possibility of widespread rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow afternoon.
It said there are chances of fairly widespread light to moderate rain, snow, and thunderstorms on Thursday.
It said that the weather generally will remain dry and cloudy with the possibility of light rain and snow over the isolated reaches on Friday while another fairly widespread spell of rain and snow is possible on Saturday.
“The wet weather will continue till February 4 with the forecast of widespread rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir on February 3”.
Meanwhile, the night temperature significantly improved amid cloud cover in Kashmir today.
The minimum temperature recorded in Srinagar last night was 1.9 C against the -4.3 C the previous night, and this was 2.8 C above normal for the place.
The day temperature recorded in Srinagar today was 13.7 degree Celsius which is 5.8 degree Celsius above the normal.
The minimum temperature also witnessed a significant rise in other weather stations of the Valley, with the tourist resort of Pahalgam recording at -0.8 C and the ski resort of Gulmarg registering -2.5 degree Celsius today.
