JAMMU, Feb 4: Police in Jammu’s Janipur area claimed today they have worked out two separate snatching cases within six hours of the commissioning of the crimes, by arresting three individuals and recovering from their possession the stolen properties, including mobile phones and currency note garlands.
A police official said that a complaint was received from a shopkeeper Shobhit Mahajan, resident of near Logan Park, alleging therein that a person came to his shop for fixing puncture and while was busy in the puncture work, the said persons snatched his mobile phone and ran away.
On receiving the complaint, he said, a case FIR number 14/2025 under section 307 BNS was registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
He said during the course of investigation, the accused, identified as Ritesh Kumar of Bihar at present Janipur, Jammu, was arrested within three hours of the commissioning of the crime.
In another incident, the police official said that a shopkeeper, Ashutosh Sudaan of Main Stop Janipur reported that some unknown person taking benefit of electricity shutdown during the evening hours snatched a garland of currency notes worth Rs 4440 from his shop.
Post receiving the complaint, he said, a case FIR number 15/2025 under section 307 of the BNS was registered at Police Station Janipur and using human and technical intelligence, the accused identified as Tarun Momen and Ajay Sidu, both residents of Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, were recovered within 6 hours and the snatched notes garlands were recovered from their possession.
While all the three accused are in custody, further investigations into the cases are underway, said the police official.
