Snatching case cracked, accused arrested with gold ornaments

JAMMU, Aug 23: Police Station City Jammu has solved a snatching case and arrested the accused with stolen gold earrings worth Rs 59,000.
On 20.08.2025, complainant Ramesh Sharma, son of Mohan Lal Sharma of Gandu Di Chawani reported at Police Post Residency Road that an unidentified person forcibly snatched gold earrings from his 75-year-old ailing mother while she was sitting in the veranda of her residence.
Acting promptly, Police Station City registered FIR No. 53/2025 under Sections 332(C)/304 BNS and investigation was set in motion.
Through tireless efforts, sustained surveillance and technical assistance, the police team led by SHO Police Station City, Inspector Shakti Devi, along with PSI Samriti Sharma and her team, under the close supervision of SDPO City North Jammu and overall guidance of SP City North Jammu, successfully apprehended the accused.
The accused has been identified as Rozer Walter, son of Joy Walter of Christian Colony, Jammu. On sustained questioning, he confessed to have committed the crime. The stolen gold earrings valued at Rs 59,000 were recovered from his possession.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain his involvement in other similar offences.
