SMVDU’s faculty presents research paper in Intl conference

JAMMU, Oct 20: Architecture Anoop Sharma, Assistant Prof in Architecture, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) presented his research paper in ‘Urban Planning and Architecture Design for Sustainable Development International Conference’ held from October 14 to 16 at University of Salento in Italy.
The conference was organized by IEREK- an international institution and more than 100 Research professionals, resource personals and students belonging to different countries attended the conference and presented their valuable research ideas.
Anoop Sharma was the lone candidate from India who presented his research paper in the conference. He presented paper on the topic “Revitalizing the urban development scenario of Contemporary Town” with the emphasis on the Katra town of Jammu and Kashmir.
In his paper, he highlighted with case studies, the major problems being faced by Tourism (pilgrimage) oriented towns like Katra and emphasized the redevelopment of such towns based on identified pilgrimage hub based on pedestrian traffic and human scale coupled with decentralization in amenities.
