SMVDU hosts training programme on ‘Development of E-Content & MOOCs’

KATRA, Dec 18: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), under the aegis of the UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), successfully concluded a one-week online Short-Term Training Programme (STTP) on “Development of E-Content & MOOCs”.
Coordinated by Dr Prabhu Omer, the programme was designed in line with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and UGC guidelines to strengthen the digital pedagogical capabilities of faculty members across higher education institutions.
The six-day programme comprised 24 meticulously designed sessions, beginning with the fundamentals of MOOCs and e-content creation and advancing to specialized topics such as instructional design, multimedia integration, learning management systems, and the SWAYAM framework. With 230 active participants representing 120 institutes and universities across 22 states, the initiative reflected a truly national character and academic diversity spanning 70 disciplines, including engineering, management, law, humanities, life sciences, computer science, and economics.
Each day featured four structured sessions enriched with hands-on activities, assignments, and quizzes, ensuring both conceptual clarity and practical application. Experts from reputed national institutions such as NIEPA, IGNOU, IIS (Deemed to be University) Jaipur, NCERT, NITTTR Chandigarh, Gujarat University, Ambedkar University, Jammu University and IIM Mumbai delivered sessions covering UGC MOOC guidelines, instructional planning, script writing, video recording and editing, portal management, digital assessment tools, and preparation of MOOC proposals for national platforms. The valedictory ceremony marked the successful conclusion of the programme. Dr Jatin Soni, Co-coordinator, presented the vote of thanks. Prof Supran K Sharma, Director, MMTTC, SMVDU, highlighted the growing significance of MOOC development in today’s evolving academic landscape.
The valedictory session was graced by faculty members from the School of Electrical Engineering, namely Prof Bhola Jha, Dr Ankireddy, Dr T Chiranjeevi, Dr Kamaldeep, Shubham and Akashdeep.
