KATRA, Nov 11: A transformative “Meditation Experience Session” was organized by the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SoCSE), School of Architecture and Landscape Design (SoALD) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), in collaboration with Isha Foundation.
The session attracted enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, scholars and staff. The event aimed to introduce participants to the profound benefits of meditation and mindfulness, fostering inner balance and mental clarity amidst today’s fast-paced academic environment.
The resource person for the session was Dr Siya Malhotra from Jammu, a renowned meditation practitioner and coordinator of Isha Center at Jammu. She spoke about the science and spirituality behind meditation, emphasizing its positive impact on emotional stability, concentration, and overall well-being. Participants were guided through a practical meditation experience using the “Miracle of Mind” app, which has been designed to help users deepen their awareness and enhance focus through guided practices. The app served as a valuable digital companion during the session, making meditation accessible and engaging for the university’s tech-savvy student community.
The session was followed by an interactive discussion, where attendees shared their experiences and reflections. The event was coordinated by Dr Sunanda, Head of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Abhiney Gupta, Head of the School of Architecture and Landscape Design, and Dr Rajeev Kumar, Coordinator of the NSS unit along with Dr Sakshi Arora, Navin Gupta and Dr Kamaldeep. A special vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Sharda Pottukuchi from the School of Biotechnology.
Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice – Chancellor of SMVDU appreciated the organizing team for holding such a purposeful session and the initiative for offering students a chance to pause, introspect, and reconnect with themselves-an experience often missed amidst the rigors of modern education.
