KATRA, Sept 4: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has intensified its relief operations for families affected by floods and landslides in Reasi and Udhampur districts, extending its efforts for the second consecutive day, today. The initiative is being carried out as per the directions of the Board’s Chairman, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
Over the past two days, the Shrine Board has reached out to more than 1,200 affected families, surpassing its initial target. Essential relief supplies including dry ration kits, utensils, blankets, tarpaulins, tents, and other immediate necessities have been formally handed over to the district administrations of Reasi and Udhampur for distribution among those hit by the calamity.
Teams from the Shrine Board, in coordination with the local administration, visited dozens of flood-affected villages around Katra to oversee the distribution process and assess the on-ground requirements. Immediate assistance was provided to families in severely impacted areas.
In addition to supply distribution, the Shrine Board has arranged temporary shelter facilities at Shakti Bhawan and Niharika for displaced families from Purana Daroor village. Free meals are being served at these shelters to ensure food security and a safe environment for those rendered homeless by the disaster.
Officials said the relief operations would continue in the coming days, with the Shrine Board committed to playing an active role in both relief and rehabilitation measures across the affected districts.
