JAMMU, Apr 26: In a moving display of compassion and service, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has sponsored cochlear implant surgeries for four children with profound hearing loss, gifting them the priceless ability to hear and speak.
The surgeries were performed at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), Kakryal — a visionary healthcare project established by the Shrine Board through a partnership with Narayana Health.
“Our mission is not limited to spiritual care. Through SMVDNSH, we bring world-class healthcare to the remotest corners of Jammu & Kashmir,” said Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board. “Witnessing these children begin a new journey filled with sound is nothing short of a divine blessing,” he added.
SMVDNSH is currently the only hospital in the Jammu region equipped for advanced cochlear implant surgeries, thanks to cutting-edge infrastructure and the Shrine Board’s unwavering support. The surgeries, led by Dr Rohan Gupta, ENT & Cochlear Implant Surgeon, mark the beginning of a new chapter for the children, who will now undergo speech therapy and auditory rehabilitation.
Dr M M Mathavan, Facility Director, SMVDNSH, remarked, “Each implant is a miracle of hope, made possible by the Shrine Board’s generosity.” Dr Yashpal Sharma, Executive Director, SMVDIME, added, “This initiative proves what faith-driven compassion and medical excellence can achieve together.”
Beyond building the Hospital, the Shrine Board continues to champion inclusive healthcare, offering financial aid for critical illnesses, cancer treatments, and cochlear implants — ensuring that no life is left behind due to lack of resources.
The Board has pledged to continue supporting many more children facing hearing loss in the future, reinforcing its commitment to social justice and healthcare access for all.
Today, as chants of “Jai Mata Di” fill the Trikuta Hills, they are joined by the newfound voices of children who can now hear, speak, and dream — a true testament to the Shrine Board’s vision and service.
