JAMMU, Dec 29: Asserting that the struggle over MBBS admissions in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence will continue until justice is achieved, the SMVD Sangharsh Samiti today announced that the committee will soon launch a signature campaign across various districts in this regard.

He said the Lieutenant Governor should seek advice from Dr Yashpal Sharma, the head of the institute, as the latter is equally responsible for the injustice being done to the faith of devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi and must face action. He also questioned the role of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, calling it suspicious, and said that all this happened with his full knowledge.
Colonel Mankotia said that the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and its members were aware of the issue of one-community admissions at the medical institute from the very beginning, but they maintained silence.
Pointing out that the Sangharsh Samiti has already called for a boycott of public programs attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Col Mankotia appealed the legislators who hold faith in Mata Vaishno Devi to also boycott such events. “Those who fail to do so will be dealt with in the committee’s own way,’ he warned.
While outlining the upcoming agitation programs, Mankotia announced that signature campaigns will soon be initiated across various districts of Jammu and Kashmir. One signature campaign will focus on prominent citizens, retired bureaucrats, former military officers, ex-IPS and IAS officers, while another will reach out to the general public, he added.
On this occasion, Colonel Mankotia also announced the appointment of Abhishek Mahajan and Advocate Deepak Sharma as spokespersons of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti’s core team.
Senior members of the committee- Parshotam Dadhichi, Sanjay Mahajan, Kartik Sudan, Neeraj Gupta, Narayan Singh, Abhishek Mahajan, Advocate Baldev Singh, Advocate Deepak Sharma, and Shilpi Verma were also present on the occasion.
