Smuggling of illicit liquor foiled, one arrested

JAMMU, Aug 14: Satwari police under ‘Operation Amrit’ foiled smuggling of illicit liquor and arrested a man.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Satwari Police Station laid a naka and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops intercepted the pedestrian after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 544 plastic bottles of smuggled illicit liquor from the bag being carried by the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Hari Om Singh, son of Amarnath, a resident of Pogal Paristan, District Ramban, at present Belicharana.
He was smuggling the illicit liquor to his native area Belicharana for selling among the masses to make illegitimate profits.
A case under FIR Number 137/18 under Excise Act has been registered at Satwari Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, Incharge SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
