Smuggling of 62 bovines to Valley foiled, one held

RAMBAN, Sept 29: Police foiled major smuggling of 62 bovine animals to Valley and arrested one person during checking at three different areas of the district.
As per police sources, police team from Batote police station laid a naka at Baggu Nallah and intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK14D-9570.
During checking, 4 bovines animals were rescued by the police and the driver arrested, who has been identified as Mohammad Rafi, son of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Bharat Nagar, district Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 97/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA has been registered at police station Batote and investigation started.
Meanwhile, police team from Chanderkote police station laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AF-1487.
Sensing trouble, the driver of the truck escaped from the spot. During checking of the truck, 17 bovines were rescued, which the driver was smuggling to Valley.
A case under FIR Number 55/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA has been registered at police station Chanderkote and manhunt has been launched to nab the driver.
In another incident, police team from Ramban police station laid a naka at Shan Palace and signaled two Srinagar bound trucks bearing registration numbers JK14B- 6355 and JK14B- 6555 to stop for checking.
On seeing police party, the drivers of both trucks accelerated their vehicles and tried to flee, but the police chased and intercepted the vehicles near some distance from the naka point. The drivers of both the vehicles manage to escape from the spot.
A case under FIR Number 101/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Ramban and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Arun Kotwal, SHO Chanderkote Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli and SHO Ramban Inspector Ajay Singh Chib foiled the bovines smuggling bids under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary, Additional SP Ramban Arun Gupta and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
