DODA, Jan 11: Police here today foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in Thathri arrested the animal smuggler besides seizing the vehicle involved in the crime.
Sources informed that cops from Police Station Thathri while was on a patrolling duty at Thathri Badanoo area during wee hours intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK06-A/2467 coming from Badanoo area.
On checking the vehicle, cops found five bovines loaded without any arrangement of food and water and were being transported without any permission.
The vehicle was being driven by Mudasir Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Shiekh, resident of Gurmul, Tehsil Kashtigarh, at present Ganpat Pul Doda and he was arrested on the spot.
His other accomplice in the vehicle, Mohd Arif, son of Abdul Qayoom, resident of Kashtigarh fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.
Police has registered a case in FIR no. 03/2025 U/S 223BNS and 11 PCA in this regard at Police Station Thathri and started investigation.
